There are so many reasons why Ustyled resonates with the style of organizing that Lili Pettit offers with her business, Clutter Healing

For one, when we work with a client, our intention is to help them create a wardrobe full of pieces they LOVE and make them feel powerful. Lili helps her clients to release items they’ve been holding on to … in their closet and around their house … so they can have a house full of things they LOVE.

Additionally, Lili has an amazing eye for design, so her organizing is as tasteful and elegant as it is effective.

It’s no wonder clients like Jessica Alba entrust Lili with their space. It’s very common for women to lose track of everything they do have, we offer you some of Lili’s best tips on how to organize your closet so that you can see everything in your wardrobe.

(Also, you’re not alone in this! The majority of women wear only 20% of their closet!)

1) Start with Quarterly Edits

By cleaning out your closet about four times a year (or once per season), you only have things in there that you love, and you can eliminate unnecessary clutter.

2) Assign a Dedicated Home to Every Item

Whether it’s on a specific part of the rack or in dust bags, drawers, or storage boxes, it’s important to assign every item in your closet a home and that like items are together. This way, not only are you able to easily find things without making a mess, but you’re also more inclined to put things back when you know exactly where they should go. This will help you avoid the snowball effect of things piling up everywhere.

3) Set a Time for Weekly Maintenance

Once-a-week maintenance—say, on Sunday nights—will keep you from going past the point of no return when it comes to a messy closet. If you start every week with it clean, you’re more likely to want to keep it that way.

4) Put Things Back where they Belong

Finally, you must always put things back where they belong. Even if you’re late or running out the door, taking (literally) a few seconds to simply put things back in their place will help you maintain better habits and a consistently clean closet.
