The news reports surrounding Harvey Weinstein and the women coming out with allegations of harassment and rape are hopefully the tipping point to the other side where this does not happen as regularly for women.
This issue (that we ‘ask for it’ by simply dressing as women) is exactly what drives my work with leadership, style and power for women … more on my WHY for you:
We need to have this conversation so that we can get to a point where what’s ‘appropriate’ is whatever makes you feel your best to rock at your work. You are dressing for YOU, not any man, woman or expectation.
We’ve got a ways to go in many ways, but it’s possible.
My hope is that someday soon we’re not concerned about men vs. women or needing any pronouns as a descriptor but simply person will do. Idealistic perhaps, but still my hope.
In the meantime, many of my clients have been navigating male dominated industries and they do find themselves having to deal wit the reality of what that means. Eventually, they’re so badass that all theme see is the person who is a badass, talented leader. But we still have to leap over the hurdles.
In the meantime, I’ve got your back in leadership, style and power. Together, we’ll create the change we need.
