You know by now that I’m a huge proponent of dressing up when you’re feeling down, when you want something new (a honey, a job promotion, a new client, etc.) and especially when you’re feeling a bit BLAH.

This article  from learnvest.com highlights actual research to see both how you’re perceived and how you perceive yourself, depending on your dress and presentation.

I know how easy it is to run your errands in your yoga clothes as if you just came from the gym (I’ve been guilty of this myself, I will admit, and I DO love my Lulu’s!), but I’m sure you know the difference you feel when you run your errands in a more dressed up casual look. I bet you strike up more conversations, look forward to running into a friend (or a crush) and exude confidence and your inner beauty. Right?

My favorite part? A new study from Northwestern that examined a concept called ‘enclothed cognition.’

“Enclothed cognition gives scientific proof to the idea that you should dress not how you feel, but how you want to feel. Which clothes make you feel powerful? Sexy? In control? Wealthy? The clothes you choose are sending a message to those around you, but also to you, yourself.”
