I launched Ustyled in 2008 with the intention of making women’s lives easier.

I knew that I didn’t have time to shop to update my wardrobe to position myself for a promotion and I worked in the Fashion Industry!

I had the luxury of being able to send an email to put an order in through the warehouse and pick up my order at the end of the day.

The thing was that I couldn’t return anything that I bought that way … so I had to go into a store and try it on before I could order anything! Working nights and weekends, when was I supposed to do that?

AND, I was only 25!

Fast forward 4 years to 2012 and women were loving the styling services of Ustyled, but not investing in the support for shopping.

I understood – it was a much bigger investment.

BUT, those who did invest in the support of outsourcing their shopping – usually for events where they were the leaders – oh my goodness, what a difference it made!

Those were the pieces they would wear over and over again and get tons of compliments on. They were the pieces that made them stand out (for all the right reasons).

So, we launched Boutique Box in 2012 to make it easier for women to invest in outsourcing their shopping.

We were a little ahead of the trend as there are a number of ‘Box’ shopping services out there … which I love! I want women to get this support. I want women to invest in taking care of themselves; to outsource those things they need to do but don’t love to do (or just aren’t great at).

 

Shopping is frustrating.

 

Figuring out fits, colors, proportions, etc. And then learning where to find those pieces that work for you … not to mention what you actually need!!

 

So, I wanted to share a quick lesson, Boutique Box 101, if you will: how you can (and should) work 1 item various ways.

 

With Boutique Box, you’re not getting willy-nilly wardrobe updates.

You’re getting pieces specifically curated for you from the various designers and stores that we work with on a regular basis. And if our resources don’t address your specific wardrobe challenges, we’ll find the resources that will.

So, every piece that we send you is very purposeful. And every piece that you keep, we want you to be able to wear multiple ways.

 

The staple black jacket, for example:

 

Every woman’s black jacket is going to be different – it has to be the best black jacket for YOU. It doesn’t have to be a traditional blazer, unless that’s what is best for your work environment and your personal style.

This is perfect for when you want to be pulled together for an otherwise casual event … or great for casual Friday. You’re still professional, but you get to wear your favorite jeans!

Now, this dress (sorry, not available anymore!) is so versatile in it’s own right. With the jacket and simple accessories, it’s perfect for making a subtle statement at the office … VIP presentation, perhaps?

A little less edge than the booties, a little more classic polish. Still a great dressed-up casual option.
