It’s that time of year again — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
My summer job in college was at Nordstrom and this is when I got to really appreciate the Anniversary sale. I was able to save up for my first car thanks to the women I served while working at Nordstrom and this sale.
I do have a love-hate relationship with the sale and sale shopping in general, but below I share what I do love about this opportunity to invest in yourself and your wardrobe:
And because it’s all about making YOUR life easier here at Ustyled, I went through and pulled out some of my pics for the best pieces to take advantage of the sale:
Update your Bras + Lingerie
I love the Calvin Klein Perfectly Real myself as it gives a nice shape for my smaller chest, but this Natori one in Teal is quite FUN as well.
Most women wait WAY too long before updating their bras.
You should be fitted for a new bra at least once a year and most of us don’t do it nearly as often as we should. You should also be washing your bras after 3 wears at the most. So, you should have a few basics that you rotate through each week to make sure you’re taking good care of your bras.
Who doesn’t appreciate Spanx for how they make your dress and/or pants lay just that much more smoothly. I am a big fan, personally. And now is the perfect time to update the basic Higher Power style every woman should have:
Shoes that go the Distance …
I’m kind of obsessed with these Cole Haan skimmers, personally. The metallic gray is a great neutral, the pointed toe (while too pointy for some women’s tastes, and that’s OK!) elongates your leg AND you get a bit of a heel without sacrificing any comfort. Be still my heart!
This is definitely the time to update your bootie game. Find a neutral style with a heel height that you can get behind (doesn’t have to be this high) and you’ll have your new favorite pair of boots to get you through Fall and Winter. (I seriously LIVE in my booties and love them for a heel option that is actually comfortable!) These gray suede Via Spiga have my vote … and the price is hard to beat for a quality boot! (Just be sure to Scotchguard them before you wear them!)
Shopping on sale is the time to try something that is a little bit outside of your comfort zone, but you’re feeling really drawn to … like these sexy beige suede knee high boots (also Via Spiga!). Knee high boots can be tricky to get the fit on the calves just right, but once you find your pair … you’ll be so glad you invested the time, effort and money!
Bags! Bags! Bags!
If you don’t need a bag, don’t pay any attention to the bags meant to distract you, but this IS a good opportunity to update your laptop bag or travel bag if you’ve been needing to … and they’ve been better about adding interesting options like these …
This Rebecca Minkoff bag is EVERYTHING you wished your backpack could have been in High School. At least, it is for me! I am obsessed with the Fringe and details that make this a cool backpack. Plus, your chiropractor will thank you.
And there is nothing better than a cross body bag in a fun color that also actually goes with pretty much everything. It’s great for a day out sight seeing and/or shopping so you carry just the essentials and keep it all safe. Plus, it’s super cute! This Tory Burch will take you places and stand the test of time!
Update your Work Essentials
I’ll be honest there is some fun Fashion stuff on sale for this sale, but most of it is pretty basic. They’re the safe best-seller bodies, reinterpreted. But, I’m totally in love with the green and simplicity of this Theory blouse. It will mix & match within your wardrobe to give you a ton of versatility. And, I’m always looking for great work blouses … definitely BUY this one!
I mean … Just because!
When I came across these SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS … I just about died. I will definitely be trying these myself! And for that price point, you should as well!! These are leggings that you can get away with as pants … just style it similarly to this picture. Booties and a slightly longer blouse or sweater are PERFECT to soften this edgy option.
For this robe I’ll just say ‘you’re welcome.’ A client actually turned me on to Barefoot Dreams and I fell in love. My favorite PJ’s and blanket are from them and this robe is now on my wish list. The picture doesn’t do it justice – it’s the dreamyness of the soft fabric (and the price point!) that will make you fall in love as well.
