It’s a bit blunt, I know. But I say it with love and because I want the best for you.
I want you to SHINE.
I want you to feel your power. I want you to WANT to be seen.
YOU are the change that we need in the world. But you can only create that change if you show up and share your voice, presence and beauty with the world.
Often, women hide behind clothes that are too big or not quite right or bland or easy … because, for one reason or another, they don’t want to be seen.
It’s safer to stay with the status quo and to blend in.
But that’s not how we get to equal pay and opportunity.
We have to stand up. We have to fight. And we have to be seen.
So, how do you know if you’re frumpy?
1) You don’t get compliments on your clothes.
When someone compliments you, it’s for one of two reasons:
– they love you and see your beauty + intellect
– they want to know where you got that jacket
Ideally, it’d be for both reasons! AND, with the jacket, you’re inspiring them to stand out in style.
But if you’re not getting compliments on your clothes it means that they’re not making YOU shine and they’re not making you stand out in style.
2) You’re not comfortable even if you have plenty of room in your clothes.
This happens when you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.
Your wardrobe is out of alignment. You’re wearing clothes that simply get you out the door. You’re not wearing clothes that make you feel good, yet alone look good. And you know it.
There’s wearing a uniform for efficiency’s sake and then there’s abdicating. You’re abdicating.
The problem is, you don’t have the time or the energy to do anything about it. And you don’t know where to start even if you did. It’s OK. That’s where Ustyled can help and the Style Power Program is a perfect first step.
3) You have plenty of room in your clothes.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Sizing and fit is the number one fix Ustyled makes with it’s clients. Most of our clients go DOWN a size. Many women think that loose means fitting, where what we really want to see is tailored (not tight!).
Your clothes should skim your body and show your shape. If you don’t see any shape, then you’re guilty of this and should try going down a size.
Of course, it’s also about finding the right designers that fit your body and that does take trial and error if you’re doing it on your own, but the joy of finding that PERFECT pair of pants (the most elusive thing) is so worth it!
If you see yourself in any of these three symptoms, there is hope!
