I coined the term ‘Style Power’ a year and a half ago as I wanted to create something that communicated the essence of Ustyled and could easily be used to spread the message of women standing in their power as leaders.
So, for me, Style Power is that confidence that you have that has you OWN the room.
And it can be accessed via your favorite clothes that make you look, and more importantly, feel powerful, amazing, brilliant, etc.
It can be your Prada LBD (like me) or your Christian Louboutin pumps or your David Yurman ring.
OR, it can be that PERFECT red dress, the yellow skirt, the printed jacket, the statement necklace, the bold cuff, etc.
It doesn’t have to be designer.
It just has to resonate with you. It has to have meaning.
For instance, my Prada LBD was inherited from my mom. She bought it on a shopping trip with her sister and her mother. It was one of the first designer pieces that she invested in for herself. And she had it tailored to fit her tiny waist perfectly.
I feel ALL of that when I wear the dress.
I feel the love I have for three dynamic, inspiring and powerful women. I feel the investment my mom made in herself. I feel the quality and care of the tailoring. (And I’m grateful to also have inherited my mom’s genes and her waist!)
Here at Ustyled it’s more than clothes.
A big part of Style Power is empowering other women to stand in their power, to want to be seen and to SHINE. We do that when we connect, when we share, and when we step out in style.
So, what I would LOVE for you to do is share a #stylepower pic on Instagram and tag @ustyled and share with us (all of us women):
“To me, #StylePower is ____ .”
Is it your favorite pair of pumps? Why?
Is it your best friend, Kate Middleton or your Mimi (aka Grandma 😉 … see above for her coolness!)?
Style may sometimes feel superficial, but it’s not. It’s an outward expression of your inner self. What you wear and why you wear it has meaning – both to you and to those who meet you. But, it’s the meaning to YOU that is the most important in how you connect with those you meet.
Encourage your friends to share. Let’s create a movement of women standing in their #stylepower! You with me?
