What is your go-to #StylePower outfit? Have you ever noticed how it’s the same thing?
In case you haven’t noticed, scroll through pictures of yourself at previous events+engagements via Facebook, your iPhone, Instagram and perhaps you will see a trend.
For instance, some of mine … totally depends on the event and my mood, but there tends to be heels when I want to feel especially powerful and feminine. 😉
We are creatures of habit and comfort. And when it comes to our style, when we find something that works (looks good, fits good, makes us feel good), we aren’t likely to deviate from it. It could be that little black dress you always wear with the same black heels and pearl necklace. Your style power outfit could be a button down top, blazer, pair of jeans and comfy flats. Or, it could be a wrap dress and the same pair of sling back shoes.
My point is, learning how to mix and match is a simple, efficient way to step into your style power and you can do it immediately to freshen up your look! Now that fall is here (and to help you play with your clothes and step up your style power), let’s help you mix and match a bit.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
- Go through pictures of yourself at recent events/speaking gigs.
- Notate your “go-to” #StylePower outfit, i.e what you were wearing inclusive of the shoes.
- Now, go to your closet, pull out that outfit and see if you can switch up the heels, switch up your necklace, add a belt, add a jacket, add a cardigan, you get the gist.
- You don’t have to switch ALL of these things up at once. Aim for two. As an example, if you are the LBD kind of gal, switch up the heels and add a belt or jacket. Those of you who love blazers, swap out the pants for a skirt and switch up your necklace. For my wrap dress women, wear a pair of boots and add a bold cocktail ring.
The point with this is to keep it simple but to step out of your comfort zone AND to have a little fun! In fact, I have some more challenges in store for you this fall so this is a great warm up for the style happenings to come in the next few weeks.
When you have completed the challenge, share your #StylePower. Post your pics on the Ustyled Facebook page, tweet us (@catherinecassid) or tag us–and hashtag #StylePower–on Instagram. (@Ustyled)
