If you’re on our email list, you see my name quite a bit even though you might not know who I am. Well hey, I’m Alex! I am the newest employee at Ustyled and basically head of logistics (aka Catherine’s assistant) but also a stylist in training.

At Ustyled, we talk a lot about realizing your worth and investing in yourself. Where we choose to invest our time and money differ for every individual… but no matter your age or income it is vital to know you’re worth it! Today I’m pulling back the curtain and sharing the three ways I invest in myself.

Workout Classes

I LOVE SPIN CLASS. Yes, I will admit that I am one of the cult members. My sister and I started spinning together over a year ago and I absolutely fell in love with the way it made me feel and the satisfaction of biking 28 miles (in a dark room… going nowhere.) When I accepted my job with Catherine and moved to Washington, D.C. spin class was the one familiar thing in my life that I could pick up without missing a beat. While it is a time and monetary investment, it is something that consistently fires me up.

(Obviously I LOVE a theme… Left is my going away party, Right is last year’s Christmas Eve Ride)

Food

I am a foodie who is passionate about cooking… but I hate waiting in the mile long line at the grocery store. To ensure I don’t get HANGRY (Hungry + Angry) I invested in the boxed food delivery service, Plated. I get to choose my meals online and all of the ingredients show up at my door every Monday. This service keeps me healthy and adventurous in the kitchen without spending an hour at the store… WORTH IT.

Clothes

Obviously I have a passion for fashion, do I have a budget for it? Nope, not yet. However, every few months I will go shopping and invest my money and my time in a few pieces that can seamlessly transition between my professional and personal life (you know we love to mix + match + maximize). Lets be honest, I can’t tell people I work in fashion and not look stylish. No one would believe me!

Investing in yourself, at any age, is incredibly valuable. Whether you’re investing your time, money or both, it will always pay off – it shows how much you value yourself.
