There are a lot of ‘shoulds’ around dressing as a modern professional woman.
They’re BS!
This idea that on top of all the different elements of our lives – positioning ourselves for a promotion, caring for our family, volunteering for causes dear to our hearts, being their for our friends – we’re also expected to always be perfectly presentable.
I come from a pretty big extended family and a long line of strong women on both sides. These women have definitely influenced me in my own confidence and belief in myself, but they’ve also inspired the work that I do with Ustyled. Their stories of strength, selfless sacrifice and unconditional love have kept me going in my tougher times.
We also have a pretty broad range of political ideologies in my extended family.

Over the last year especially, I’ve had a lot of conversations with women around feeling the need to ‘cover up’ so that we don’t attract the wrong kind of attention.
This really pisses me off.
Even if I’m wearing a maxi dress that skims my body (aka not tight or oversize, but still flattering) or workout clothes to keep me cool and unencumbered, I’m catcalled or honked at or looked up and down.
